Nishi Chaya District
Nishi Chaya District used to flourish as an entertainment district approved by the Kaga domain in 1820 and is also one of the three major tea districts in Kanazawa along with the Higashi tea district and the Kazuemachi tea district.
Although the scale is small among the three teahouses, the number of “geisha” is the biggest, and if you walk along the street in the evening, you can hear the sound of shamisen and drums from the back of the lattice door.
Don’t miss the Nishi Chaya District Museum which shows the childhood of Seijiro Shimada, the best-selling author in the Taisho era.
