Nara Park

Nara Park stretches approximately 4 km east-west and about 2 km north-south from the precincts of Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and Kofukuji Temple to Kasuga Okuyama.

As a relaxing spot with beautiful lawns such as Araike Garden, Chayama Garden, and Mt. Wakakusa, and pine trees about 1000 years old, this park is pretty popular with both tourists and locals.

About 1,100 wild deer living in the precinct are believed they were originally priests of Kasuga Taisha Shrine.
