Toki no Kane/Kashiya Yokocho

Toki no Kane/Kashiya Yokocho are two of the major spots that represent Koedo Kawagoe. The clock tower “Toki no Kane” was originally built by Tadakatsu Sakai, the lord of Kawagoe Castle during the Kan’ei era.

The sound of the bell still echoes through the town four times a day. You can also enjoy eating sweets made with Kawagoe’s famous sweet potato at Kashiya Yokocho, which has about 20 candy, and pickle shops along the cobbled streets.

Experience a time slip in Koedo Kawagoe and its old townscape remains.
