Hotokegaura is a natural formation carved out by the rough waves of the Tsugaru Straits, where the wind and snow are severe. Strangely shaped rocks of white-green tuff stretch for about 2 kilometers, and are named after the names of Buddhas such as Nyorai no Kubi, Gohyaku Rakan, Hitotsubutsu, Jusanbutsu Kannoniwa, and Gokurakuhama.
