Lake Toya
“Lake Toya” was created by an eruption about 110,000 years ago and is one of two lakes that does not freeze even in the cold winter in Hokkaido.
The lakeside is studded with art museums and artistic spots with 58 sculptures.
If you are a hiking lover, Nakajima island, which sits in the center of the lake and has abundant nature, is a must-go. Not only can you hike through beautiful nature, but also you might see Sika deer.
During the “Lake Toya Long Run Fireworks Festival” held from late April to the end of October, fireworks are launched every day and color the night sky of the lake.
