Higashi Chaya District

Higashi Chaya District is the old streets with cobblestones retain the atmosphere of the Edo period.

The townscape, which has been selected as an important traditional buildings preservation district of the country, is full of shops and cafes for Japanese sweets, traditional crafts, and miscellaneous goods.

Kaikaro, the largest teahouse building in Kanazawa, is a must-see and open to the public only during the daytime. You can see the tatami mat tea room woven with gold leaf and the stairs colored with Wajima-Nuri.
