Taushubetsu River Bridge
“Taushubetsu River Bridge” is one of the arch bridges on the former Shihoro Line and is registered as a Hokkaido heritage site.
Called a “phantom bridge”, it starts to sink into the lake in June when the water level increases, the entire bridge sinks to the bottom of the lake and disappears around October, and re-appears on the frozen surface of the lake in January.
The curvaceousness of the bridge is even more mysterious when the inverted arch is reflected on the surface of the lake.
When the lake surface is covered with snow and freezes, you can enjoy hiking with snowshoes.
