Ginkakuji
Although “Ginkakuji” is not silver (silver is “gin” in Japanese), the name comes from the fact that it was called “Ginkakuji” against “Kinkakuji” in the Edo period.
The official name of Ginkakuji is “Jishoji”, the mountain cottage built by Ashikaga Yoshimasa was turned into a temple of the Rinzai-shu after Yoshimasa’s death.
Registered as a World Heritage Site, it allows you to feel the world view of Wabi-Sabi that reflects Yoshimasa’s aesthetic sense.
