Imamiya Shrine

“Imamiya Shrine” is also known as “Shrine of Marry Into The Purple”. The name comes from a story that the daughter of Nishijin’s greengrocer who always prayed for this shrine, Odama, became the side room of Tokugawa’s third shogun, Iemitsu, and later gave birth to the fifth shogun, Tsunayoshi.

At the office of this shrine, there is also a “ball guard” on which vegetables such as Kyoto kagura and Kyoto carrots are drawn after Odama.
