Kiunkaku

Kiunkaku has been registered as tangible cultural property designated by Atami City, built as a villa in 1919 (Taisho 8).

Kiunkaku was built based on a well-known “the three major villas of Atami” along with the private Iwasaki villa and the Sumitomo villa.

When it was turned into an hotel after the war, many of Japan’s leading literary masters such as Yuzo Yamamoto, Naoya Shiga, Junichiro Tanizaki, and Osamu Osamu loved and frequently stayed here.

Kiunkaku has a cultural property with many elegant attractions such as the architectural style that retains the Taisho and Showa eras and the lush gardens.
