Tofukuji Temple
“Tofukuji” is the Omotoyama of the Tofukuji school of the Rinsai sect at the foot of Mt. Tsukinowayama.
The principal is Shaka Nyorai and there is Sangharama and a small Zen temple built to commemorate the death of a high priest in the vast precinct.
Also known as a famous spot for autumn leaves, there are about 2,000 maples in the precincts, and the view from Tsutenkyo is especially spectacular.
