Gokayama

The gassho-zukuri village of “Gokayama” is in the midst of mountains and its exquisite scenery has been designated as a World Heritage Site.
Gokayama consists of two areas; “Ainokura” where 23 gassho-zukuri houses, built between the end of the Edo period and the Meiji period, still exist and “Suganuma” where 9 gassho-zukuri houses and “Gokayama Folklore Museum” that exhibits the industry and life of the Edo period.
Staying in a gassho style hotel and Japanese paper making are highly recommended.
