Ishiwari-zakura

A huge granite rock with a circumference of 21 meters in the front yard of the Morioka District Court. Edohiganzakura grows from the crack in the center. This cherry tree is said to be 360 ​​years old, with a root circumference of 4.3 meters and a height of 10 meters. It was designated as a national natural monument in 1923. Sweets with this “Ishiwari-zakura” motif are also on sale, and are popular as Morioka’s famous sweets.
