The Himeyuri students were sent to the battlefield to provide nursing care during the Battle of Okinawa in Word War Ⅱ.

Himeyuri Memorial Tower stands on the site of the moat where the Third Surgery of Okinawa Army Hospital was located during the war to memorialize those who lost their lives.

At the adjacent “Himeyuri Peace Museum”, the exhibition explains how cruel the battle was.
