Kaisenya
Speaking of Sendai, you can’t miss the fresh seafood caught off the coast of Sanriku. Founded in 1985, “Tohoku Seafood and Robatayaki Kaisenya” is a restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of seafood grilled over a robata. Robatayaki is a Japanese‐style barbecue cooked in front of customers in a restaurant. The craftsman will carefully grill it over a charcoal fire. The popular “Whole Scallop Wrapped in Sea Urchin” is limited in quantity, so order early. Seasonal fish such as kinki, rockfish, herring, and flounder, which change daily, are recommended to be enjoyed simply grilled with salt to bring out the best of the ingredients.
The sashimi platter, which is eye-catching and bold, is also a must-order dish. There are 3 types of platters and 5 types of platters. It has a good reputation for being able to enjoy extremely fresh seasonal fish at a reasonable price. About 20 kinds of Japanese sake are selected every month by the proprietress, mainly local sake from Miyagi. The menu list also describes the characteristics of the taste, so it will be a hint to find your favorite brand.
This is an izakaya where you can enjoy seafood dishes made with locally caught fresh fish and local Tohoku sake in a nostalgic atmosphere.
